The Buddha is carved out of bone and the beads, I believe, are glass made to look like Malachite.
 
Buddha means “enlightened one” or “knower”.  He helps with clairvoyance, clairaudience, telepathy, telekinesis, remembering past lives, and knowledge of the true nature of reality.  Buddha practiced a middle path which avoids extremes of sensual self-indulgence, and self-mortification.  He experienced enlightenment (or awakening) under a bodhi tree.  Nirvana is found not in wealth, social position, power, sensual pleasures nor lofty meditative states.  Happiness is found on a path of ethical living, being critical of all sources of knowledge, and mental training.  Once a person reaches enlightenment, there is no need to reincarnate again.  
 
Glass is a manmade item, but it still has properties.  Glass brings in the energy of joy.  When I managed a crystal shop, kids would come in and gravitate towards all the glass items in the store.  I started thinking about it and most children are very joyful souls so it made sense.
 
Bones represent life, regeneration, the soul, and honoring ancestors.  They carry stories of the past, present, and future which can be used for spiritual healing.  Carved or painted bones bring good luck, are used as physical artifacts to manifest intentions, and used to ward off evil spirits.
